Which cookies we set, and how to refuse them.

There are only two sources, and neither of them is advertising.

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This page lists every cookie this site is responsible for. It sits alongside the privacy policy, which covers information more broadly.

What we set

Analytics, from Google Analytics

These tell us which pages people actually read and which ones they leave immediately. We use that to decide what to write and what to fix. They do not tell us who you are.

  • _ga distinguishes one browser from another. Expires after two years.
  • _ga_H4N8Z5QBVX keeps track of the current session. Expires after two years.

Anti-spam, from Cloudflare Turnstile

Our contact forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which works out whether a submission comes from a person or a bot. Without it the forms fill up with spam within days. Its cookies are set only in connection with that check and are not used to track you around the web.

What we do not set

No advertising cookies. No retargeting pixels. No third party trackers beyond the two above. We are not building a profile of you and we are not selling anything about your visit to anyone.

Turning them off

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either for all sites or for this one specifically. Look under settings for privacy, cookies, or site data.

To opt out of Google Analytics everywhere rather than just here, Google publishes a browser add-on for that purpose.

Blocking analytics cookies costs you nothing on this site. Blocking the Cloudflare cookies may stop the contact forms from working, since the anti-spam check will not be able to complete. If that happens, email us directly at contact@thethinkweb.com and we will pick it up the same way.

Do Not Track

Browsers can send a Do Not Track signal, but there is no agreed standard for what a site should do with it, so this site does not currently respond to it. The list above is the complete picture either way.

Changes

If we add or remove a cookie we will update this page and change the date at the top.
